What We Did
Standard House was the former offices and warehouses of the Standard Fireworks Company. Located in a prominent town centre position, it was very important that any intervention would be sympathetic to the historic building. A case was successfully made to Planners that the proposal was a natural evolution of the building, following on from the Art Deco intervention in the 1930s. The roof design drew on the strong horizontal emphasis of the ground elevations but we added a twist with the exaggerated angled eaves. This discernibly contemporary addition has helped to define the building and reflects an exciting interior design.
